Five Home Hacks That Make Animal Care Easier
February 23, 2022

Animals are such wonderful creatures. Despite the relatively rigorous responsibility of caring for them, we are not willing to give up just yet.

However, it can also get frustrating, which is why you need hacks. There are some shortcuts to make living with a furry creature much easier:

1. Get a carpet saver

The rainy season is almost here, and your home needs a carpet saver. Whether your pet is a cat or dog, escaping outside now and then is practically unavoidable. Even if this does not happen all the time, dogs and cats sometimes come home with wet muck all over their bodies.

Instead of cleaning your carpet every time this happens, you can curb it at the entrance of your home. It is as simple as placing an old towel and a heavy-duty foot mat at the door post your pet uses to enter and exit the room.

Then, you can train your dog to stay out until it has wiped its paws properly. If it is a cat, you may have to clean the muck yourself. But again, cats clean up themselves, so you may not have to worry about this.

2. Line your shelves with carpet or other durable materials

We all know how much cats love climbing places. They also have sharp claws that are usually retracted. However, they rely on them when climbing high places; it helps them dig into pliable surfaces and hold on firmly if they miscalculate.

But again, a cat enjoying a hobby like climbing your furniture does not bode well for the soft chair, bean bag, or other soft furnishings in the home.

You can create a climbing area for your feline friend instead. Line some shelves with carpet, add some catnip to make a fast and natural bond, and watch them take the pressure off your precious furniture.

3. Make your critter cage

A DIY cage is much cheaper than buying one from a store, which is why many pet owners opt for this option. Making one is also straightforward; we are confident that you will figure out which nail and plywood go where after a few instructional videos.

At most, you will drill a few holes and attach glass fonts, all easy projects even for carpentry newbies.

4. Get a squeegee

You may not enjoy owning a pet if you do not have a squeegee. While you can live without one, this tool helps you extract all the animal fur stuck in your carpet.

Essentially, if you own a pet that is prone to shedding, get a bathroom squeegee.

5. Create a suitable feeding post

Dogs can be messy eaters sometimes. In their attempt to eat the last kibble in their bowls, they can push them around, creating the most disturbing sounds while also making a mess.

Water can spill out alongside the kibble. But you can prevent a feeding mess from becoming an everyday day occurrence in your home. It is as easy as building a feeding post.
